Power of Forgiveness

“It’s one of the greatest gifts you can give yourself, to forgive. Forgive everybody.” - Dr. Maya Angelou

Forgiveness is powerful. The weight that releases itself when you forgive and let go is tremendous. It’s life-changing. It’s freedom.

Sit and examine what you’re holding on to, and how it’s affecting you. What do you need to do to release the weight? If you can’t talk to the person, then write a letter to them. Express your feelings through the written word. You don’t have to give it to the person; you can burn it, or throw it away. But, once you’ve written it down, release it in all aspects. Release it for yourself.

“Forgiveness of oneself is the hardest of all the forgiveness.” Joan Baez

Let's go a little deeper.

Is it yourself that you need to forgive? Are you beating yourself up over something that you shouldn’t? Why? Examine yourself. Create a mind map and notice what you're holding on to, and how that affects other areas in your life. Look at the reasons for why you’re so harsh on yourself.

Acknowledge that you are holding on to something(s) that have caused you mental, physical, and emotional pain. Release, and let go.

Peace, love, and self-care,

L.A.
